Captain Dan Coley on Calmer Seas
Heaven just got a great Guide.
I am writing this for dad and others that were lucky enough to know and love Captain Dan. Dad, Captain Bruce Shuler, and Dan were the closest of friends and dad has visited Dan numerous times over the last couple of weeks of Dan's remarkable life.
We were blessed by the tides to have a man like Dan wade our waters. Although the cancer made Dan cantankerous at times, his quick bear hugs, smiles, and kind words were always welcomed and quick to be delivered. Dan made the long summer weeks on the water guiding bareable with a quick tension breaker or delivering a ride back to the baot after a long power wade. Dan was, and will always be for the Shuler clan, a Texas saltwater institution. Our thoughts are with his beautiful wife, Joyce, and the entire Coley family.
Captain Dan, our brother, mentor, and kindred spirit, may you enjoy fair seas and tailing winds on your next journey.
