February 1, 2006 — Back in the Saddle
With our show / seminar commitments behind us until the Dave Holder Show we are getting back on the water regularly. Yesterday Capt. Ted and I did a little reconnaissance for upcoming trips. Conditions were excellent with light south east winds. The fish responded with us catching numerous Slot reds and a number of good trout. Could not get a good top water bite going. Fish were in 1.5 to 3 foot of water along the grass edges with SOFT MUD Bottoms. Color choice was Cajun Pepper on a 1/8 oz. Head, fished right on the bottom. Capt. Dan had a charter and was able to get a few trout to bust top waters south of us. Our water looks better than this time last year lets just hope it holds. We only fished south of Port and along the west side on the ICW. If weather holds look for the fish to get going good. Yesterdays conditions were blue bird bright high skies. Even with these conditions the fish responded to our offerings. We have guests most of this month so watch this site for some BIG GIRLS to show up. Sorry no pictures yesterday I relied on Poppy to bring camera. BIG MISTAKE he at least remembered to bring his rod. Old age is tuff on us OL' FARTS
