I feel pretty confident navigating the LLM, but there are a few areas that I always steer clear of. Most of my navigation knowledge has come from my father and other experienced anglers who know the area. I also have and occasionally use the “Hook and Line” map. i find that it does a fair job of advising me about the places i know, but it isn't perfect. There are areas I would like to fish, but don't feel comfortable in.
Does anyone know of a better navigational map than the “hook and Line”? i have used google earth, and it is great for an overview and an idea of bottom structure, but doesn't convey water depth at the level of detail necessary for navigation. i don't have GPS on my boat, we do it the old fashioned way!
