Traveling to Mansfield tomorrow, any help is appreciated!

Hello there,

I'm new here and don't get to do much saltwater fishing, but we are leaving early Thursday morning from Tyler,Tx to spend a few days in Port Mansfield.  We are going off shore during the days on Friday and Saturday as long as the conditions permit.  The beach house we are staying at is where my questions come in.  The house has a dock with lights and I would like to know if this is a good way to fish, like at night.  I have never fished for reds or trout and any advice on how to set up and catch a few would be great.
